Have a look at the latest British initiative:
What is the Creative Economy Programme?
“The Creative Economy Programme is the first step in achieving our goal of making the UK the world’s creative hub. The Programme is centered around seven issues that are the key drivers of productivity in the creative industries. We have created groups for each of these seven issues drawing on expertise from across the DCMS family of NPDBs, other Government Departments, the regions and other stakeholders.
For each of the issues the groups will have two broad aims;
Investigate the coherence of Government supported projects, indentifying gaps and overlaps.
Push forward policy development, making suggestions for how the Government can better support the Creative Industries.
Parallel to this we will be undertaking a wide ranging programme of industry meetings and summits to ensure that the creative industries themselves can have a say in how the Government supports them.”
On the 14th March at Bloomberg The Rt Hon. Tessa Jowell MP, Secretary of State for Culture Media and Sport launched the new website in a speech on the future of the Creative Industries in the UK. She urged everyone to use the site and give their views on the work of the programme as she outlined that “This important input will feed in directly to the Creative Economy Programme, and help shape the policy at the end of it”.
