Home » Chiropractors discover Florida’s creative class

In cultural and urban studies a lot has been written about Richard Florida’s creative capital theory. Now it appears that Florida’s thesis has also found its way to medical science. In a recent paper published in the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research (JVSR) Dr. Behrendt argues that doctors of chiropractic neatly fit into the creative class. In the paper she lists a number of arguments to show that what chiropractors do (”correction of vertebral subluxations, which are misalignments of vertebrae that cause interference in the normal nerve function”) and the ways in which they work, match all the characteristics ascribed to the creative class by Richard Florida. It all looks like a solid benchmark to me. I just do not quite grasp the further intention of the article.
